‘Wards 10 Best Engines & Propulsion Systems’ Adds Nissan Rogue to List

The high-tech powertrain in the 2023 Nissan Rogue certainly hasn’t gone unnoticed. The SUV’s 1.5-liter Variable Compression (VC) Turbo engine has been named to “Wards 10Best Engines & Propulsion Systems” list for 2022. Standard on all Rogue trims, it delivers enhanced power and best-in-class gas engine fuel economy and torque.

Since 1995, Wards has recognized the importance of automotive powertrain engineering, and Nissan’s achievement for 2022 marks the company’s 19^th trophy in those 28 years.

“This engine inspires words that have never been uttered in the same sentence as ‘3-cyl. engine’: very smooth, exceptionally quiet during idle, pleasant to drive in traffic or on the highway” says Judge Drew Winter.

Winners are evaluated based on several factors including horsepower, torque, noise, fuel economy, comparative specifications and applications of new technology. For 2022, judges began testing from a group of 29 all-new or vastly improved engines, by putting them through the paces of daily life – commuting, fall road trips in New England and running errands.
