2027 Nissan Z Gets New Design, Handling & Manual NISMO

The legendary Nissan Z continues to evolve for 2027, bringing meaningful upgrades that enhance both performance and driver engagement. With refreshed styling, improved handling, and—most importantly—a long-awaited manual transmission for the 2027 Nissan Z model, this latest version delivers exactly what enthusiasts have been asking for.
“We’ve listened to everything Nissan Z fans and owners have been asking for, and we’re answering the call with the most exhilarating, driver-focused version of the seventh-generation Z yet,” said Marco Fioravanti, vice president, product planning, Nissan U.S. and Canada. “The six-speed manual in Z NISMO was specifically engineered for a pure and focused experience, while targeted handling and braking upgrades give more consistent and more capable track performance.”
The biggest headline for 2027 is the addition of a 6-speed manual transmission to the high-performance Z NISMO—a feature that was notably missing before.
This new manual setup includes:
-
An upgraded clutch for improved durability
-
A revised shift lever for quicker, more precise gear changes
-
Transmission-specific tuning for sharper throttle response
The result is a more engaging, driver-focused experience that aligns perfectly with the Z’s sports car heritage.
Enhanced Performance and Handling
Performance improvements go beyond the transmission. The 2027 Nissan Z lineup benefits from several chassis and handling upgrades designed to improve confidence on both the street and track.
Key enhancements include:
- Retuned suspension and larger dampers for smoother, more predictable handling
- GT-R-inspired brake components for improved stopping power and cooling
- Reduced steering friction for better feedback and control
- A redesigned fuel tank to maintain performance during high-G cornering
Under the hood, the Z continues with its twin-turbo V6, producing up to 420 horsepower in NISMO form, delivering thrilling acceleration and track-ready capability
For 2027, Nissan has refined the Z’s iconic look with subtle but impactful updates:
-
A redesigned front bumper and grille for improved aerodynamics
-
A new “Z” badge replacing the traditional Nissan logo
-
New 19-inch wheel designs on Performance models
-
A striking Shinkai Green Pearl Metallic paint option inspired by classic Z heritage
These updates maintain the Z’s retro-inspired identity while giving it a modern edge.
Interior and Technology Improvements
Inside, the 2027 Nissan Z continues its driver-focused layout but adds a few meaningful upgrades:
-
Qi2 wireless charging with cooling and magnetic alignment
-
Updated interior materials, including a new available tan interior
-
Enhanced sound tuning for a more immersive driving experience
While the cabin remains familiar, these enhancements improve everyday usability and comfort.
Release Timing
The refreshed 2027 Nissan Z is expected to arrive at dealerships in summer 2026, with pricing details to be announced closer to launch.
